Program Description:
Join professional woodcarver, Mary May, in learning the techniques of woodcarving for furniture makers. She will begin by sharing the very basics of carving by tackling grain challenges, how to sharpen carving tools, methods of thinking through an entire carving project, and many tips and tricks along the way. Mary will walk you through a variety of relief carving projects including flowers, leaves, and even the traditional, stylized acanthus leaf that is often seen decorating furniture. This class is available to both beginning and experienced carvers.
All tools and wood are supplied, but students may also bring their own tools if they wish. Click here for a list of tools recommended by Mary May.
