Students of the Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute come from all walks of life. They are veterans, high school students and graduates, college students, professors, white-collar professionals, and farmers, all with diverse backgrounds. Everyone has the common desire to learn new skills and become more self-sufficient through the art of wood. Students of SBWI become life-long friends, sharing the unique experience of creating.

Veterans group - Woodworking for warriors is a program for vets only.
Exhibition opportunities - Display, meet clients & sell work at local shows, galleries, and storefront in the Downtown Adrian Area. Sell your work at shows like the Great Lakes Woodworking Festival, Clinton Fall Festival, Art-a-licious & more.
Teach - Opportunities to teach your skills to others.

The Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute is located in an undisturbed natural area right on the edge on Adrian, home of an oak tree forest that is over 100 years old. We share the wooded 57 campus with 2 other local organizations: PlaneWave Instruments and Adrian Center for the Arts and we work together to achieve each of our unique missions.
PlaneWave Instruments manufactures and sells innovative telescopes to the space industry all over the world, including universities and high-end private collectors. They design and create a variety of sized telescopes, including the massive 1 meter lens, right next door to us. In 2022, they won the “Coolest Thing Made in Michigan” award for their PW1000 Observatory System.
The PlaneWave Campus is also home to a brand new 18 hole disc golf course, operated by Adrian Orbit Disc Golf Club.

$10 of each player entry fee goes towards CTP's. (There will be protected CTP's per division)
The remaining balance of each entry fee will go towards payouts.
Juniors will payout to the top 50%.
Intermediate will payout to the top 50%
Advanced will payout to the top 40%.
Winners of MPO and FPO will receive a Keyblade trophy!

Adrian Center for the Arts is a flourishing network of artists, offering opportunities to children, students, adults and professional artists to pursue art, a place for self-expression and development of craft, through classes, workshops and artist’s studio spaces. In partnership with the ACA, the SBWI Woodworking Warriors display their art in a yearly veterans gallery show.
River Raisin Ragtime Revue is partnering with PlaneWave Instruments to renovate the historic (1879) chapel on the PlaneWave arts and science campus. Haviland Hall, named after Michigan's most noted abolitionist who was behind the creation of the chapel, will be home to R4's concerts, recordings, and archive. Haviland Hall will also serve as a community performing arts center.
Adrian is a small college town with all the comforts of a big city and tons of outdoor recreation activities. There is plenty to do in and around Adrian. We have 5 hotels, 3 colleges, and a historic downtown with modern amenities.
