Artist Statement
While attending high school I learned the basics of woodworking in my modern furniture class. Once I graduated from high school, I enrolled in the Sam Beauford Woodworking Inst. While enrolled at the Institute, I learned how to cut dovetails, miters, mortise and tenon. I learned how to make drawers for the tool chest I built. I tried wood turning for my shaker pedestal table and Windsor chair legs. After that I was taught how to build a Windsor chair - carving a seat, roughing out spindles, and steam bending. Once I graduate from the Institute, I hope to work at a custom furniture company to hone-in on my furniture making + design skills, with hopes to later make custom furniture independently.
