Bio

Rahme Mourad has spent his life studying the medical sciences. He started his woodworking journey last summer and is grateful to pursue something he loves.

Artist Statement

My work so far has been a practice of new techniques in a new medium. What I love most about this craft is the visible joinery and the combining of wood species, colors and textures. I appreciate furniture that is modest and created around wood’s natural elements. I’m fortunate to be on this path and to have met the people I’ve met so far.  My hope is to ecologically create functional objects for friends and clients. 

The instructors at SBWI have taught me the art of crafting fine furniture through studying the history, the skillful use of machinery and hand tools and understanding that wood is dynamic and changes with the seasons.  I look forward to exploring new joinery techniques and for all the projects to come.
