Program Description:
SketchUp is an affordable powerful three-dimensional modeling program; the ideal tool for woodworkers to plan any project. Time in the shop is more enjoyable with a good plan in place, and with SketchUp the typical woodworker has a versatile design and engineering tool capable of quick and accurate planning and problem-solving for furniture or other woodworking projects. This class will get the SketchUp novice up and running. We will work with simple shapes to master the basic concepts of 3D modeling, navigating in the model environment and understanding what is happening on the computer screen. As the weekend progresses we will move on to plan typical woodworking projects and extract information from the model to make life easier in the shop. If you've struggled to learn SketchUp on your own, or given up in frustration on 3D modeling, this class will open the door to 3D design.
Several handouts will be given, and the instructor’s books will be available to purchase.
