Program Description:
We’ll get that old dusty hand plane back into action in this one day workshop! We will polish, sharpen, and tune up the body of your hand plane to get it into user ready condition. The key to using hand tools correctly is a sharp edge and proper setup - learn how the masters make it look so easy. Learn several techniques to make your hand plane “shaving sharp” and get ready to make paper-thin shavings. Students are encouraged to bring along their own hand planes, but shop tools are also available. No experience required. High-quality sharpening tools will be provided.
Learning Objectives:
Learn all the parts of a hand plane and the physical properties of a hand plane
Learn how to disassembly and reassemble your hand plane with correct set up
Learn how to flatten the soul and sharpen the blade
Attendance Requirements: Students must attend all days
