Upholstery Basics: Wrap and Staple Essentials

Program Description:
Begin your upholstery journey with this entry level and versatile project - a wrapped and stapled seat cushion. Whether you want to reupholster old furniture or add upholstery to furniture you build, this class will teach you the basic tools and techniques. The wrap and staple upholstery method can be used on a variety of furniture pieces such as dining chairs, bar stools, ottomans, head boards and more.
We will provide a project you can work on in class. If you would like to bring in your own project, please email photos to Carolyn at racinec@sambeaufordwoodshop.com as soon as possible so she can assess if it is suitable for this class. If you would like to bring your own fabric, purchase 1 yard of medium or heavy weight upholstery fabric. Vinyl is also suitable.
Learning Objectives:
Learn how to use upholstery tools including staple gun, pullers and pliers
Learn about basic upholstery materials including foam, batting and fabric
Learn how to cut and apply foam
Learn how to cut and apply batting
Learn how to properly measure and cut fabric for any project
Learn how to fold fabric around corners for a professional look
Note: Work gloves are recommended but not required for staple removal.
