This course will teach you how to properly mix, apply and finish milk paint on your own project. Milk paint is an environmentally friendly powdered form of paint that has been used for centuries. It is made from simple, 100% natural ingredients like milk protein (casein), lime, and natural pigments. It is known for its matte, chalky finish and can be used to cover virtually any surface. Students are asked to bring in a wooden project they want to paint or they can experiment with scrap wood from the shop. You will also take home a jar of the paint you mix in class in order to apply more coats at home if needed.
Learning Objectives:
How to prepare surfaces for milk paint application
How to properly mix milk paint
How to apply layers of paint for an even finish
Multiple techniques for sealing and finishing painted surfaces
