Ta Da! It's Up!

Some days are BIGGER than others.

Many of you may have seen the timber frame pavilion structure standing in front of our school for the past 4 months. This timber frame structure was built by Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute (SBWI) students in May of this year during a 5-day timber frame workshop with Jack Witherington. They built and raised the timber frame structure in front of our classroom to be on display during the Great Lakes Woodworking Festival. At that time, Midwest Energy and Communications (MEC) stepped forward and purchased the pavilion as a gift for Raisin Township, to be permanently installed at Mitchell Park in Tecumseh, MI.

On September 29th and October 3rd, 2023, SBWI staff, volunteers, students and MEC linemen worked together to reassemble and raise the timber frame pavilion at it’s permanent location. This sturdy white oak timber frame will stand strong for many years to come! Well done everyone and special thanks to those who helped coordinate this project and make it a reality.

Fun fact: this timber frame pavilion has a twin, which is installed at the entrance to the Hidden Lake Garden’s sky walk.
