The Final Boat - Going Home

I've got all the bling on the boat and the last of the varnish on the decks and gunwales. I'm going to shoot another coat or two on the hull. I've got some varnish drips and a few spots of glue from putting the gunwales together that I want too sand out before I call the boat done.

I'll take the boat home in a week or so and these pictures might be the last I post about this project. It's been fun following behind another craftsman and picking his brain about how to approach different problems. The older I get the more appreciation I have for all the clever people who are building things all over the world. I'm going to leave you with two videos that have influenced me for many years. I can go back to these whenever I feel like I'm not as grounded as I should be.

One video is about a place where I lived in the early part of my life. The video was shot in Louisiana but it could just as easily been on the Sabine river just north of Orange,Texas. The second video is in Quebec and traveling, camping and exploring the Canadian Shield is where I hope to spend most of the rest of my life. Enjoy.
